Robin Grace and Lucia Page’s engagement was special two times over. While ziplining through the trees on a weekend outing in New Hampshire, Lucia turned to Robin and spontaneously popped the question. Not to be outdone, Robin opted for a more-traditional approach that evening, dropping to one knee in front of Boston Harbor after a leisurely dinner.
The natural backdrops of that day played a big part in the Medford couple’s wedding, which was held at the Saphire Estate, in Sharon. “We wanted to incorporate trees, water, and nature—and have a very organic feel,” Lucia says.
Also important to the couple was Lucia’s six-year-old son, Jackson, who brought them together in the first place: When he was a toddler, Robin was his babysitter. On the day of the wedding, in fact, Jackson got his own sterling silver wedding band—and custom Spiderman cake. “Leading up to the marriage, he kept saying, ‘This wedding is not happening fast enough!’” Lucia remembers. “He was really into knowing that we were going to become a new family.”
“Lucia was frigid,” Robin says of their outdoor portrait session. “I was so excited that I didn’t feel it.”
Robin and Lucia worked with florist John LaRoche, of BlueGuava, to bring the outside in. “He had really great designs that incorporated birch,” Lucia says.
Jackson showed off his moves on the dance floor.
Lucia’s something blue—sparkly sneakers—married tradition and whimsy.
The happy family shared a moment.
The couple treated the children in attendance to coloring books, crayons, and Ring Pops.
It was important to the pair to have a spiritual ceremony that honored their family’s religious backgrounds—Christian for Lucia, Jewish for Robin—so traditional touches like the breaking of the glass and Communion were incorporated.
The three-tier wedding cake, augmented with fresh flowers, came from the Danish Pastry House, in Medford.
