You could call Amanda Jacobi and Jonathan Smith’s love story a moving target. The two met when Jonathan, a Rhode Island native, returned home to take a sales job. At the office, he quickly fell for his effervescent coworker Amanda—and then a few weeks later, she left for New York. After a couple of years spent “ driving back and forth on 95,” Jonathan decided to make the move south to be with her, eventually popping the question in the Philadelphia apartment they shared after yet another relocation. For their wedding, the bride and groom decided to make the trek up 95 once again for a sophisticated ceremony and reception at the Providence Public Library. To give their big day a “downtown chic” feel, Amanda says she kept the palette simple—black, white, and gold—adding personality with chevron-print linens and a feather-trimmed frock for the reception. The couple also played up their venue with bookmark escort cards and a dictionary turned guest book. But the best part of the day, Jonathan says, came at the very end: “We sat to have our caricatures done, and we were the only ones left in the library. It was nice to have some time to ourselves to relax, and to talk about the night.” A fairy-tale ending that finally found them in the right place at the right time.
