A Primp in Time

When it comes to photo-friendly skin and hair, preparations begin six months ahead.

Eyebrows

It takes half a year, with appointments every four to six weeks, to define your arches. First step: Go fuzzy, “even if it kills you,” says Michaud Cosmedix pro Cindy Jensen. Schedule your last session four days before the wedding.

$40, Michaud Cosmedix, 69 Newbury St., Boston, 617-262-1607, michaudcosmedix.com.

Skincare

Staying hydrated is key, but water alone won’t clear up blemishes. Brides-to-be should consult an aesthetician six months out and plan to have at least three lead-up facials. Bluemercury’s Stacey Smith advises women to set up parallel makeup appointments and keep their beauty gurus apprised of skin progress. Get your final facial two weeks before the big day.

Haircut and color

“Hair grows about an inch every two months,” says Maxime Salon owner Ronit Enos. Her advice? Start coloring six months out—it may take up to five sittings to get the desired hue. And don’t neglect regular trims. Make a final appointment one week before the wedding to give the color and cut time to settle.

Consultation starts at $30, color starts at $125, Maxime Salon, One Derby St., Hingham, 781-749-2239, maximesalon.com.
