Finding the right person to capture your "I do's" takes more than good Googling. Before handing over a four-digit check, you have to become familiar with the photographer's style. We challenged four pros to shoot one "bride"—our soon-to-be-married online editor, Jamie Bellavance—at Boston's historic Algonquin Club. NATURAL BEAUTY

Megan Davies and Amy Hawkes of Click Imagery understand the body issues—real or imagined—that complicate a bridal session. Accordingly, they proffer a steady stream of figure-flattering tips, cheer, and chatter. What's more, their willingness to get down and dirty helps them capture truly memorable moments: We'll never forget Hawkes sprinting down Comm. Ave. to borrow some mutts from a dog walker. Packages start at $4,500, 617-484-8833, clickimagery.com.

GLAMOUR GIRL

Dan Doke will capture the inner vamp you didn't even know existed. Using dramatic lighting, traditional portraiture, and carefully constructed poses, he creates vignettes straight out of a film noir set. He pays meticulous attention to detail and did the best job showcasing the venue's stained glass windows and oak staircase. Confident brides who love the camera will also love Doke; more reserved women might find some of his compositions a bit contrived. Packages start at $2,500, 978-664-3811, dandoke.com.

ACTION FIGURE

Matt Grazier is a realist, preferring action shots to posed pictures. He expertly manipulated natural light to capture Jamie's thick lashes and flawless skin. Though Grazier photographed Jamie by himself, he usually works with his wife Enna. They met at photography school and now have two sons—a love story that makes Grazier particularly attuned to romantic couples. Packages start at $7,000, 617-323-8718, grazierphotography.com.

REAL APPEAL

Using a photojournalistic style, Eric Barry stays away from artificial lighting and overt direction, preferring to capture real moments. His best shots showcased Jamie's smile and Back Bay architecture. Barry's approach will appeal to brides who prefer reality—and great candids—to stylized glamour. Packages start at $4,700, 617-733-7444, aclassicmemory.com.

Gown, Liv Harris Design, $1,950, Vows; hair, Katie Gaide Mahan, the Loft Salon + Day Spa; makeup, Bre Welch, the Loft; brooch, $48 for three, Shoes to Dye for.
