Congratulations
Sean & Liezl
Wedding Date: December 28, 2008 in Ceremony: Church of the Holy Trinity; Reception: The Down Town Club
How They Met: We met while attending ERAU in Daytona Beach, Florida. We were in the same Technical Report Writing class and our first assignment was to find someone we did not know, interview them, and prepare a short introductory presentation. Sean sat behind me that first day, tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I don't know you--you're my partner for this assignment!" We became good friends and began spending a lot of time together. We lost touch for a little while as our schedules became hectic, but one morning, I saw Sean standing outside of the building where my next class was with a bunch of his AFROTC friends. He picked me up and hugged me and I had no idea why he was so happy, but I found out that morning he had gotten his Air Battle Manager (ABM) slot and I just happened to be the first person there when he found out! We have been inseparable ever since... After two years of being just friends, we eventually started dating, and the rest is history!
The Proposal: We went for a walk on the beach before meeting Sean's parents for dinner (his parents were down from Philadelphia visiting Sean in Mexico Beach for the Labor Day Weekend). After walking for a while, he laid out a towel for us to sit on before the watching the sunset. I had been having a rough few weeks, so Sean told me that he made something to cheer me up. On a side note, for our 6-month and 1 year anniversary, I had made a scrapbook of all the fun times we've had, so to make me feel better, he said he put one together by himself! I was quite impressed by his scrapbooking skills. There were several pages of pictures that made up this photo album/scrapbook of us - from kayaking to boating to my birthday. And as soon as I flipped to the very last page of the album, it said "Will you marry me?" I couldn't hold back the tears because it was pretty much the most amazing moment! I looked up at him as he was kneeling on one knee holding an open box with this gorgeous diamond ring in it. Of course my answer was yes and I've been on Cloud 9 ever since!
