Town Talk: Shop Like a Star

The rumors are true: Megawatt celebs are lighting up the Hub's shopping scene as they prowl the streets for fabulous designer wares.

Reports abound. Rumors persist. It’s true: Megawatt celebs are showing up in stores all over the city to wrangle fabulous designer wares.

Iceland’s favorite singing sensation, Björk, dropped by Lingerie Studio (264 Newbury St., 617-437-0700) and fell in love with a set of flannel pajamas covered with a colorful sushi and maki roll print. The rocker, known for her eccentric style (remember the swan dress at the Oscars?), liked them so much she bought four pairs. Who can blame her? The small, friendly shop is full of whimsical sleepwear, as well as camisoles by Aubade, bustiers by Chantelle and lacy women’s boxers by Eberjey.

Téa Leoni has reportedly made several pit stops at Kiehl’s (112 Newbury St., 617-247-1777) to stock up on moisturizer and bath products. A few blocks away, Conan O’Brien (who grew up in nearby Brookline) was spotted browsing the racks at Neiman Marcus (Copley Place, 617-536-3660).

One of the biggest star magnets in town, Alpha Omega Jewelers in Harvard Square (1380 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, 617-864-1227) is bauble central for A-listers including Ben Affleck, Teri Hatcher, and the artist formerly known as P. Diddy. Now he’s just Diddy, but he’s still the undisputed king of bling.
