A party favor becomes a scent sensation.
When Royal Jewelers’ Paula Leed turned 50 in October, she sent guests home with some pretty fancy party favors: Along with personalized Effen vodka (renamed Effen “Bling”) and cookies in her likeness, she included Royal No. 5, bottled specially for the occasion. Friends raved. Now available at Royal, the scent (“basically a rip-off of Chanel No. 5,” jokes the famously frank Leed) shares notes of rose with its namesake, but manages to one-up the classic: 25 percent of sales benefit Angel Flight New England, which flies patients to hospitals for free.
