Orange Crush1

Cleaning up never smelled so sweet.

We’re always on the lookout for something—anything—to make kitchen cleanup a little less dreary. Michele Mangiacotti is a woman who shares our aversion to this most mundane task, and we were happy to stumble upon her solution: aromatherapy kitchen cleaners. Instead of synthetic scents that overpower with a blast of fake fragrance, Mangiacotti products are based on a blend of essential oils created by a team of international perfumers.

The process requires more time, energy, and resources, but it’s what helped Mangiacotti take her “light-hearted luxury” line from a basement office in her Foxboro home to the shelves of national retailers. In the new Clementine collection, the bright scent of Florida orange oil fills the room as the high-performance spray makes short work of germs. And each glass bottle is pretty enough to keep out on the counter, sporting a pewter medallion and an amusing illustration of a kitchen girl (inspired by Mangiacotti herself) who appears to actually enjoy what she’s doing. Which, come to think of it, might not be such a stretch after all. —Erin Byers Murray
