Fall Forward
We kick off an exciting new restaurant season with a lineup of fresh eateries to taste this fall.
The return of September means many things: the back-to-school rush, the Jewish New Year, fall foliage. It’s also the start of an exciting new restaurant season, which is why I’ve been looking forward to summer’s end. After a relatively quiet summer with just a few openings (we happily welcomed Gaslight, Mooo, and a second Wagamama into the fold), this month brings a slew of hotly anticipated newcomers.
Myers + Chang
First there’s Myers + Chang, a modern Asian eatery set to open in “early September” on Washington Street in the South End. This project is brought to you by two Boston heavyweights, Joanne Chang of Flour Bakery and Christopher Myers of Radius, Via Matta, and Great Bay, and it promises “no gloppy sauces…just fresh, bright, addictive chow.”
L’Andana and Met Burger Bar
Another Boston chef making his way to the suburbs is Jamie Mammano of Mistral and Mooo, who’s busy building L’Andana, his new Italian restaurant in Burlington. Meanwhile, Kathy Sidell Trustman is following up on the success of Metropolitan Club with the opening of Met Burger Bar in Natick.
Kick Ass Cupcakes
Finally, in Davis Square, look for Kick Ass Cupcakes to open next week. Owner Sara Ross has worked at Dancing Deer and trained under Suzanne Goin at Lucques, so we’re expecting some pretty fantastic cakes to come out of that kitchen.
(Note: Before you get too excited, remember that while all these restaurants are scheduled to open this month, it doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily do so. Restaurants are infamous for opening behind schedule. So call ahead)
