[sidebar]After a jet-lagged year of cross-country dating, East Coaster Michelle Pollack moved to Los Angeles to be closer to her boyfriend, Matt Boren, a television writer and actor. When they became engaged, however, Michelle—who keeps a blog called “Take Me Back to Manhattan”—was thrilled to plan a wedding back East. The couple chose the Berkshires and invited 200-plus guests, including Kelly Ripa and TV style guru Finola Hughes. And though Matt likens their bucolic wedding to sleep-away camp, Michelle insists it was as sophisticated as any wedding you’d find in Manhattan—or L.A.

The couple incorporated several Jewish traditions—including exchanging vows under a chuppah—into their ceremony on Cranwell Resort’s Mansion Lawn.

Matt and Michelle perform a romantic tango for their first dance. “We’re both a little dramatic,” she says. “We didn’t want to make everybody watch us do a traditional dance.”

A card at each placesetting told guests that the bride and groom had donated to the Art of Elysium, an L.A.-based nonprofit arts organization where Matt sits on the board.

Michelle loved the elegant script that designer Kari Dyas used for the wedding invitation, so she incorporated it into the placecards, too.

Many guests stayed at the resort for the whole weekend.
