Boston Home Spring 2010: Threshold: Fabrics

Armed with entrepreneurial flair and a range of textiles, these designers create pillows too beautiful to throw.

1. Brookline’s Melanie Anderson creates wool clothing, accessories, and home goods under the Koochi Ku label. $158, koochiku.com.

2. As creative director of sustainable rug maker Merida Meridian, Maegan Fee designs pillows that are woven in the company’s Fall River facility and stuffed with excess yarn that would otherwise be thrown away. $79–$129, meridameridian.com.

3. Boston-based FilzFelt, the brainchild of Kelly Smith and Traci Roloff, makes richly colored custom pillows from imported German felt. $60–$80, filzfelt.com.

4, 5. Bombay-born South Ender Seema Krish hires artisans in southern India to embroider her fabrics; the vibrant hues are created with low-impact dyes. $75–$116, Koo de Kir.
