Sheri Falk grew up in Austin but was always obsessed with Paris—and we’re not talking Paris, Texas. Her dream to live in the City of Light became a reality in her twenties, which spawned another ambition: creating a clothing line with a Parisian sensibility and selling it stateside, in a boutique cutely named Basiques. Launched eight years ago in Manhattan and recently transplanted to Newbury Street, the store sells classic pieces in red, white, blue, and black. While the simplicity of Basiques’ styles is ageless, mature shoppers will rejoice at the ease of navigating the racks (which include not a single miniskirt). Plus, the flowers are always fresh, prices are fair (suit jackets for $349; versatile dresses for $269), tailoring is free of charge, and sizes go up to 16. 172 Newbury St., Boston, 857-445-0144, basiques.com.
