Best of the New: Copley Square Hotel

BACK BAY’S OLDEST HOTEL (opened in 1891) is now one of the city’s coolest, thanks to an $18 million renovation completed last year. Each of its 143 luxurious rooms is sumptuously furnished in champagne, taupe, and silver tones, and boasts fine linens and upholstered headboards. Service is equally top-notch.

STANDOUT FEATURES: Literary-minded brides will seek out the Beaux Arts Boston Public Library reading room or courtyard for their nuptials, then celebrate with family and friends at this exceptionally appointed hotel. The elegant on-site restaurant Xhale can accommodate up to 68 people for a seated dinner or brunch. The restaurant’s intimate private dining room, called 1891, is festooned with images of the hotel’s history and seats up to 14. Hip watering hole Minibar is off the lobby, and can be reserved for a cocktail hour for 90 to 130 guests. If that’s not enough space, the swanky dance lounge Saint occupies the hotel’s lower level (once home to a speakeasy).

CAPACITY: Up to 420, depending on the type of reception and space.

CATERING: Must be provided by the hotel; rental fees are based on the food and beverage minimum.
