PICKING FLOWERS, gathering stream-smoothed stones, pressing leaves between book pages — the desire to collect bits of nature is almost instinctive. The handmade jewelry of local designers (and twins) Heather Goodwin and Kerry Alice Collins feeds that impulse: Using carefully selected leaves, bark, stones, and twigs — many from the woods of New England — the silversmithing duo has crafted the enchanting Twigs and Heather jewelry collection. Individually cast and fashioned, each piece is highly detailed, eye-catching, and slightly different from the next. New designs like the twig bangles (four shown here) are equal parts found organic whimsy and masterful sculptural art.
