Beacon Hill Store ‘Good’ Gets Better with a Bigger Location

Paul Niski has traveled the world. But it was New England that captured his heart—so much so that 11 years ago, the former Crabtree & Evelyn creative director moved from New York City to Boston and opened Good, a stunning Charles Street boutique devoted to jewelry and accessories.
But Good was small, only 300 square feet. So this past September, Niski finally relocated to another Charles Street space, this one nearly four times bigger than his original shop. The extra room has allowed him to add furniture, garden décor, and clothing to his inventory. It’s also given him more opportunities to showcase artisans from the region who inspire him. Aside from Ralph Lauren, Niski says, “no one has really celebrated New England style in a cool way.”
New and vintage items from all corners of the globe now share shelf space homegrown products like terra-cotta pots from Guy Wolff Pottery (Connecticut); cuff links from Chart Metalworks (Maine); and delicate serving pieces from DBO Home (Connecticut). The simple, clean furniture line Richard Watson, created by two Brookline designers, is also available.
Niski and his team are also working with local designers on exclusive pieces, and plan to debut an in-house label this spring.
“There is a vibe happening—people are proud of New England heritage,” Niski says, “and are finding new, modern ways to reinterpret that classic style.”
