Preview: DeVotchKa

If you haven’t heard Denver-based DeVotchKa’s newest album, 100 Lovers, consider reading our review of the album, then hit up the Paradise this Saturday, March 26, to see them perform in all their enigmatic splendor with opening band Mariachi El Bronx. Expect a multi-instrumental mélange of brass, strings, squeezebox, and soulful crooning, resulting in irrepressible hip swaying. Lead singer Nick Urata performs live with the best of them; the man not only hits high notes with the greatest of ease, but also has amastery of whistling so impressive it has to be seen to be believed.

$25, 9 p.m., Paradise Rock Club, 967 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, 617-562-8800, buy tickets here.
