The Inspiration for Mark Wahlberg’s Pain & Gain

You may have already seen the trailer or TV spot for Mark Wahlberg’s upcoming movie Pain & Gain costarring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The promo teases a solid fun action flick, the perfect forget-real-life-exists movie.

But the film is also based on a true story that you can learn more about tonight at 10 p.m. on ABC’s new series Revenge for Real. In its first episode, “The Miami Millionaire,” Revenge for Real tells the story of millionaire Marc Schiller. After Schiller cut off his protege Jorge Delgado, Delgado subsequently kidnapped and tortured Schiller. The tale was documented in a three-part series in the Miami New Times by Pete Collins in 1999.

Pain & Gain opens in April. Director Michael Bay has referred to the movie as a “mixture of Fargo and Pulp Fiction.” Watch the trailer here:
