Is Iron Man Coming to Boston?

Maybe. Robert Duvall and Vera Farmiga just joined Robert Downey Jr.'s new project The Judge, and production has its sights set on Boston.

A slew of celebrities have been in and out of Boston lately working on various projects, and with the upcoming months filled with possible Bradley-Batman-Katniss run-ins, we’re already seeing potential for a star-studded summer as well.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Vera Farmiga has signed on to Tony Stark’s—er, Robert Downey Jr.’s new project. The Judge is about a big-city lawyer (Downey) who returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral, when he learns that his father, the town’s judge, is the murder suspect.

Along with the news of Farmiga’s casting was mention that Boston is a target filming location. Shooting would ideally start in June, which gives Downey a little promo/down-time for Iron Man 3, out May 3.

The Judge’s cast is shaping up nicely. And the addition of Vera Farmiga is fitting, as she is no stranger to Boston. You may remember her as Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon’s love interest in The Departed. In The Judge, she’ll play Downey’s small-town old flame.

Robert Duvall signed on to play the father role last week. The studio was previously pursuing Jack Nicholson for that part, but the actor—who played one crazy villain in The Departed, if you recall—passed on the project. Vincent D’Onofrio will play Downey’s older brother; David Dobkin is directing.

The Judge is being produced by Team Downey and Big Kid Pictures. [THR]
