Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges Host Special Screening of R.I.P.D. for Boston Marathon Heroes

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges were in Boston on Sunday hosting a very special screening of their Massachusetts-based film, R.I.P.D., exclusively for the heroes of the Boston Marathon at the Regal Fenway cinema.

In R.I.P.D., Reynolds plays a deceased Boston police officer who joins Bridges and a team of “undead” cops in the Rest in Peace Department. The movie was shot in Boston last year. At the premiere, the actors met with Boston and Watertown police, firefighters, EMTs, responders, and MIT officers who helped victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

“Jeff and Ryan wanted to reach out to all the people affected by the Boston Marathon and first responders. They were kind enough to say we want you to come in,” Superintendent Chief Dan Linskey of the Boston Police Department told WHDH.

“It runs in my blood. My father’s a cop, my brother’s a cop, so I know that world,” Ryan Reynolds said at the premiere. “It’s a little about gratitude. You get to say thank you for that…and if something were to happen to either Jeff or I in the theater, we would be just fine.”

R.I.P.D. is one of several movies shot in the Boston area recently. Steve Carell and Nat Faxon’s The Way, Way Back is now in theaters, and Robert Downey Jr.’s The Judge and Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer are both currently in production.
