Boston Calling Announces New Three-Day Format

While the lineup remains a mystery, organizers of the Boston Calling Music Festival revealed today plans of expansion for the event’s third installment scheduled over Memorial Day weekend. Crash Line Productions, the team behind the festival, announced a new three-day format this morning, adding Friday night performances on May 23, 2014.
“We’re thrilled to be adding a Friday night to Boston Calling; it’s a great way to kick off the summer,” said cofounder Brian Appel in a press release. “Memorial Day weekend in Boston will give people the chance to see some of the most incredible artists in the world, all performing right here in downtown Boston.”
Additionally, a special holiday pre-sale will take place this Friday, December 6, at 10 a.m., offering discounted $130 general admission three-day passes and $300 VIP three-day passes. The organizers also teased that they will upgrade 10 of the first 100 holiday pre-sale participants to VIPs. Those who opted to buy Super Early Bird tickets back in September received an e-mail yesterday offering them a chance to purchase a Friday night ticket for $25 today.
The first two editions of Boston Calling drew thousands of fans to City Hall Plaza to watch performances by acts including Fun., The National, Passion Pit, Vampire Weekend, and Kendrick Lamar. Organizers plan to announce the May 2014 lineup “early next year,” promising a weekend full of music similar in style to its inaugural event last May.
