Comedienne extraordinaire and Burlington-bred Amy Poehler appeared on the Today show this morning to give an exclusive look at her new book. The memoir-esque nonfiction is titled Yes Please and is expected to hit shelves October 28, 2014. The title will be published by Dey Street Books, formerly known as HarperCollin’s pop culture imprint, It Books.

It’s been more than a year since the AP reported that the Parks and Recreation star was working on an “illustrated, non-linear diary” of sorts (a la Tina Fey’s Bossypants). According to a rep at It Books last year, the title will be full of “humor and honesty, brimming with true stories, fictional anecdotes and life lessons, the book will be a unique and engaging experience from one of today’s most talented and beloved stars.”

We suspect the tone will take on her witty voice and goofball nature, but don’t be surprised if Yes Please has uplifting and inspirational anecdotes as well. Poehler is one of the founders of Smart Girls, an online community and movement to help young women change the world by finding themselves. Poehler also does a webcast segment with Smart Girls called “Ask Amy” where she lends her womanly wisdom to girls who request her advice. Other videos like “Amy’s Hard Hitting Questions” and “A Nice Message from Amy Poehler” can also be found on the YouTube channel.

Yes Please by Amy Poehler is due out October 28, 2014.
