Get Ready for Boston Pops Pop-Up Concerts

To promote the live stream of their Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular show, the Boston Pops will perform five pop-up concerts around the Northeast.

For the first time ever, this year the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will be live-streamed, and to help spread the word, Keith Lockhart and a 10-member ensemble will “pop up” at a few different locations in the Northeast to let people know.

Here’s where the Boston Pops pop-up concerts will take place. Performances will last about an hour.

Sunday, June 29, 12 p.m.: Six Flags New England, Agawam, Mass.
Sunday, June 29, 5 p.m.: Titus Sparrow Park in the South End, Boston

Monday, June 30, 7:30 a.m.: Logan Airport, Terminal B, Boston
Monday, June 30, 2 p.m.: Father Duffy Square, Times Square, New York City
Monday, June 30, 5:45 p.m.: Bedford Street, Downtown Stamford, Conn.

In addition to the pop-up shows, fans are encouraged to tweet about the Fourth of July show live stream for a chance to win a prize: a trip to Boston for two, including round-trip airfare and a three-night stay at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, plus the opportunity to conduct the Boston Pops during their 2015 season at Symphony Hall. This is your chance to show that guy Keith Lockhart how it’s done, eh?

To enter, tweet with the hashtag “#WatchThePops” between Sunday, June 29, through Friday, July 4. Check out bostonpopsjuly4th.org for official sweepstakes rules.

This year’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular at the Hatch Shell will star headliners The Beach Boys, Megan Hilty, principals from the Phantom of the Opera, the Boston Children’s Chorus, and of course, the Pops.
