FESTIVAL

First Night Boston

Thank goodness donors like Highland Street Foundation saved this beloved New Year’s Eve tradition. The popular arts festival is free to browse, family-friendly, and—with purchase of a First Night button ($10)—gets you into top local venues like the MFA, Museum of Science, and many more. Though not a bottle-popping party like the ones to follow, this festival is the biggest and best celebration in town.

Prices vary by event, various times and locations.

ROARING ’20S

The Gatsby Affair at Emerald Lounge

There’s something about New Year’s that prompts a ton of 1920s-themed celebrations, and what’s more ’20s than the Great Gatsby? This New Year’s, the Emerald will slip out of its usual Wizard of Oz theme for an evening dedicated to the American Dream.

$100+, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., 200 Stuart St., Boston.

The Greatest Gatsby Mansion

The Greatest Bar is transforming into the “Greatest Gatsby Mansion” this New Year’s Eve. Come as a flapper or come as you are.

$75+, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., 262 Friend St., Boston.

A Roaring ’20s Black-Tie Gala

Though this one isn’t Gatsby-themed, the Park Plaza Castle’s 1920s-themed fete will be the fanciest by far, but without being hoity-toity. Look forward to aerialists, a live ball drop, state-of-the-art light and sound, and—of course—plenty of booze.

$100, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., 64 Arlington St., Boston.

SOUTHERN SOIREES

Keep It Country at Battery Park

For a more casual NYE celebration, Battery Park will serve burgers, hot dogs, ribs, and other Southern-themed noms. Use your two drink tickets for beer, wine, or cocktails; watch classic westerns like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; and take part in a “Country Solo Cup” toast at midnight.

$65, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., 33 Batterymarch St., Boston.

Country Countdown

Along with the Resolution Ball with MIX 104.1, Boston Event Guide is hosting a trio of New Year’s Eve parties at the Sheraton, the other two being a World Fusion NYE with Mamadou and a Country Countdown party.

$49+, 7:30 p.m.-2 a.m., 39 Dalton St., Boston.

MORE PARTIES

Midnight Toast at the W

Made Boston is offering attendees to their Midnight Toast party two floors of entertainment at the W. Clink clink with your drinks to the beat of top 40 and EDM music.

$60+ , 9:30 p.m.-2:30 a.m., 100 Stuart St., Boston.

The Donkey Show

Frankly, the A.R.T.’s Donkey Show is like a weekly NYE celebration all its own with disco, confetti, and a Shakespeare show to boot. The New Year’s Eve show and party is a special late-night edition of this perennial favorite.

$55+, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., Oberon, 2 Arrow St., Cambridge.

Glow 2015

One of many spots near the water offering views of the fireworks, Glow 2015 at District Hall comes with party favors, a champagne toast, and live music from Steal the Sky.

$40, 8:30 p.m.-2 p.m., District Hall, 75 Northern Ave., Boston.

Catalina Wine Mixer at Tavern in the Square Allston

T.I.T.S. has a reputation that lives up to that acronym. I’m including this party here solely for the Will Ferrell movie reference.

$40, 8 p.m.-2 a.m., 181 Brighton Ave., Allston.
