Sorting Boston into Divergent Factions

We place the city's finest people, places, and things into the series' dystopian cliques. Remember, faction over blood.

Dystopian young adult books-turned-blockbusters are all the teenage rage right now, the latest being the second installment of Veronica Roth’s Divergent trilogy, Insurgent.

The Divergent series, as YA enthusiasts know, takes place in a dystopian Chicago, a post-apocalyptic time when survivors are divided into societal “factions” based on personalities and dispositions.

Though Chicago is Roth’s city of choice, this time we’re going to make it about us. Last year, we took a shot at sorting the city into the Hogwarts houses in Harry Potter. Now, we’ve placed Boston’s finest people, places, and things into the five factions in Divergent: Dauntless, Candor, Erudite, Abnegation, and Amity. And then of course, there are the Divergents.

Remember, faction over blood, folks.

DAUNTLESS

Dauntless are fearless, brave, and often aggressive people. They serve as the city’s protectors.
