Best of the Day: Science Monday – May 4, 2015
Welcome to Best of the Day, our daily recommendation for what to check out around town. If you do one thing in Boston today, consider this.
Already one of the high holy days of geekdom, this May the Fourth also brings the return of Science Monday to Ames Street Deli. No strangers to mad science—just look at that cocktail list—Ames Street has started hosting a monthly night dedicated to exercising your brain meats. Last time, teams were challenged to MacGyver together a tower from drinking straws, masking tape, paper clips, and a random mystery object “that could support the weight of a coconut, with rewards for height and flair.” Presiding over the evening’s science challenge will Dr. Eric Lander, founder of the Broad Institute and one of the principal masterminds behind the Human Genome Project.
