It’s back, folks. After a successful run at the Rose Kennedy Greenway last year, the Boston Calling Block Party Series are reviving their weekly soirees and free concerts, and this time with a second new (but actually old) location added to the mix.
The block parties were widely popular in years past, having hosted people of the city for live music outdoors, and spotlighting local bands and artists. Crash Line Productions, the group that puts together acts that form Boston Calling’s festival lineups, announced in addition to its weekly series at the Greenway, they’re expanding the program with monthly shows held at Summer Street Plaza at Downtown Crossing from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
While last year’s block parties were exclusively held at Dewey Square, this Downtown Crossing spot was the host for the series the years before that. This particular series held at Summer Street Plaza kicks off this Thursday, May 7 with country/folk/punk artist Tigerman Woah. After this week, the block parties held at Downtown Crossing will be held on the first Wednesday of each month from June 3 to September 2.
Each party will have a cash bar; concert goers must be 21+ to enter.
Boston Calling’s Dewey Square parties will be held every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting May 14 to September 17. The immediate schedule is below, and acts will continue to be announced on a rolling basis in the coming weeks on Facebook.
