Best of the Day: Amy Schumer – May 28, 2015

Fresh from winning the Internet with her Bachelorette appearance, Comedy Central star Amy Schumer performs at the Wilbur tonight.

Welcome to Best of the Day, our daily recommendation for what to check out around town. If you do one thing in Boston today, consider this.

There’s not much that the Internet tends to agree on, but it seems to have come to the general consensus that Amy Schumer has been killing it. Or, as the Washington Post recently enthused, “Amy Schumer, you are our spirit animal, the latest crush in a spectacular boom year for woman crushes.” Inside Amy Schumer has given us plenty to inspire such gushing, including when the show skewered Toddlers & Tiaras with a “Little Miss Hot As Balls Pageant,” tackled rape culture in a Friday Night Lights spoof, and celebrated Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s “Last F**kable Day.” And Schumer’s guest appearance on The Bachelorette made reality TV an especially satisfying guilty pleasure when she started hurling bricks of brutal honesty at the show’s well-coiffed but terminally unfunny contestants. As we all know, Schumer is a comic who doesn’t do half measures, and her tour stop in Boston will be no exception: Tonight, she performs at the Wilbur Theatre.
