Casey Affleck Takes on Crooked Cops in NSFW Triple 9 Trailer

The first trailer for the upcoming crime thriller Triple 9 recently hit the web, and it may be Casey Affleck’s most intense role to date.

The Boston-bred actor stars as a rookie police officer named Chris Allen who is forced to navigate bloody highway shootouts and attacks by the Russian mob in order to go after the crooked cops who tried to kill him.

Between the disturbing action sequences and a True Detective-style voiceover by Woody Harrelson, this violent drama by director John Hillcoat is shaping up to be an action-packed, big screen outing for Affleck.

Triple 9 also features an awesome supporting cast which includes Academy Award-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, Avengers star Anthony Mackie, Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul, The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus, and soon-to-be Wonder Woman Gal Gadot. The main antagonist for the film will be Oscar winner Kate Winslet, who plays a glamorous but nasty mafia moll, so it looks like Affleck’s character will have his work cut out for him.

The upcoming heist flick is just one of three films featuring the local star that will be released in 2016. Affleck is set to be the lead in the Matt Damon produced drama Manchester-by-the-Sea and is also co-starring with Chris Pine in Disney’s The Finest Hours, which is due out in January.
