Johnny Depp’s Whitey Bulger Make Up Scared Black Mass Director’s Kid

Doing his Jack Sparrow voice probably didn't help either.

Johnny Depp’s take on Boston gangster Whitey Bulger is pretty terrifying in Black Mass, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that his character in the movie makes kids freak out.

According to a recent interview with GQ, that’s exactly what happened when director Scott Cooper’s 9-year-old daughter Stella saw Depp in his Bulger make up when she stopped by the film’s set one day when, fortunately, “violent things” weren’t happening.

“I looked down, and she’s looking up at Johnny like she was thinking to herself, Hold on. That’s Jack Sparrow. But he doesn’t look like it,” Cooper told GQ. “And I thought: What a great way to f–k your kids up.”

Depp added that he tried to help the situation out by doing his character’s voice from the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

“I remember I had to do the voice for her… so that she recognized me,” Depp said.

While he deserves points for trying, we highly doubt that seeing a man dressed as Boston’s most notorious gangster as he’s doing a Jack Sparrow impression could put anyone at ease.

Seriously, that’s the stuff of nightmares.
