Casey Affleck’s late night tour for his new flick Triple 9 got off to an awkward start on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier in the week. Thankfully, things went a lot better when the actor stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday night.

As a fellow New England-bred star, Meyers was able to bond with Affleck over their mutual love for Boston. The late night host also got him to weigh in on whether “bro” or “khed” was more authentic to the Boston accent, stemming from a debate that was sparked by Meyer’s hilarious skit.

“I’m going to call you ‘khed’ from now on, is that all right?’ Affleck joked.

When the conversation turned to the Red Sox, the actor admitted that he’s excited for the upcoming season and isn’t worried about Pablo Sandoval’s weight.

“I’m not too worried about it,” Affleck said. “People have all kinds of bodies.”

While the local star is sad to see David Ortiz retire, Affleck thinks his skills as a recreational league baseball player should earn him a spot on the roster once Big Papi calls it quits.

“If he’s moving out and their moving away from kind of analyzing players based on statistics, it might mean that I have a shot now,” Affleck joked. “I’m coming into my prime.”

Former Cheers cast member Woody Harrelson got a nice shout out during the conversation as well on Wednesday night, although Affleck gave his Triple 9 co-star a good-natured ribbing over his age.

“I’ve been watching him since I was six years old, I mean he was on Cheers I feel like when I was born,” Affleck said. “He’s been around for so long, but he seems young, he’s vital, he has a lot of energy. He’s fantastic, I love Woody.”
