Meryl Streep Is Coming to Nantucket for a Cabaret Performance

The Oscar-winning actress will perform on the island this summer.

Meryl Streep will be showing off her cabaret skills when she comes to Nantucket this summer.

Theatre Workshop of Nantucket announced on Tuesday that the Oscar-winning actress will perform at a special benefit on Saturday, July 30 at the Nantucket Hotel and Resort. The event, titled “On with the Show – A 60th Anniversary Cabaret,” will honor the organization’s six decades of performances on the island.

Streep, who earned a Tony Award nomination in 1976 for her role in 27 Wagons Full of Cotton, will be joined on stage by TWN’s Artistic Director Emeritus John Shea as well as actor and director Joe Grifasi. The evening of songs and stories will be a reunion of sorts, as Streep previously worked with Shea and Grafasi while their were classmates and members of a cabaret group at Yale.

Table reservations are available now while individual tickets will go on sale Tuesday, March 15. For more information, check out theatreworkshop.com.
