There may be some snow on the ground, but baseball is finally back as the MLB kicked off its 2016 season over the weekend.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert decided to get into the Opening Day spirit Monday night and brought Hall of Fame Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez onto the show as “comic relief” for Colbert, in case the comedian found himself in a jam.

Martinez stepped in for the host after the Late Show “manager” pulled Colbert from the stage, and the popular Boston sports icon did a pretty good job as a comedy closer.

During his brief appearance, the former Red Sox star took a few shots at the Yankees and Alex Rodriguez.

“The Opening Day game at Yankee Stadium was postponed due to bad rain,” Martinez said. “But, the New York Post still blamed it on A-Rod.”
