More than 500,000 people got the chance to show off their musical prowess when the Celebrity Series of Boston helped line the city’s streets with pianos in 2013.

After a successful first trip to town, the popular Play Me, I’m Yours art installation by U.K. artist Luke Jerram will be coming back to Boston in an expanded capacity this fall.

According to a press release, officials plan to place 60 pianos around the area, with at least one in every Boston neighborhood as well as select locations in Cambridge. The pianos will take over the city between September 23 and October 10.

“Street Pianos Boston is an extraordinary, interactive public art experience that has the potential to impact hundreds of thousands of Boston resident and visitors,” Boston’s Chief of Arts and Culture Julie Burros said in a statement. “Street Pianos gives us an opportunity to celebrate and showcase creativity in our city and will engage people across every neighborhood. We are delighted to see the Celebrity Series bring Street Pianos back to Boston.”

In addition to providing music, each piano is also meant to be a piece of visual art.

The Celebrity Series of Boston is encouraging local artists to fill out applications in order to decorate the instruments. Artists who want to work on the project can apply through May 25.
