If you’re sick of watching Cheers reruns on Netflix, there’s a new way to experience the classic sitcom.

The Boston-set NBC series is getting a stage adaptation that premieres at the Citi Shubert Theatre this fall. Following it’s run in Boston, the production will head out on a national tour, including a multi-week run at Chicago’s Broadway Playhouse.

Cheers, which won 26 Emmy Awards and 4 Golden Globe Awards, lasted for 11 seasons from 1982 through 1993. It also spawned two spin-offs, The Tortellis and Frasier.

There’s no word yet as to whether we’ll see Dr. Frasier Crane in the stage adaptation, but fans will get the chance to see the rest of the gang. According to a press release, Cheers Live on Stage will feature Carla, Coach, Cliff, and Norm, as well as a few iconic moments from the series, such as Sam “Mayday” Malone and Diane “Buzzkill” Chambers meeting for the first time, their first kiss, and, of course, their first fight.

Casting has not yet been announced for the Stageworks Media and Troika Entertainment production, which will take over the Shubert Theatre for 11 shows, September 9-18.

Tickets for Cheers Live on Stage goes on sale Sunday, May 15. For more information, check out citicenter.org.
