Jake Gyllenhaal gave fans a sneak peek at the upcoming drama Stronger on Thursday.

The actor, who plays Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman in the film, posted an image on Facebook of himself having a sweet encounter with actress Tatiana Maslany, who plays Bauman’s wife Erin Hurely.

Stronger, which is based on Bauman’s autobiography of the same name, is a first-person account of the Chelmsford native’s experience during the 2013 tragedy. Despite losing both of his legs while waiting for Hurley to cross the Marathon finish line, Bauman was able to help authorities identify the bombing suspects.

Gyllehaal has been all over town filming in recent months. He rocked a Bruins jersey while shooting a reenactment of the heroes’ welcome Bauman received at TD Garden shortly after the attack.

Both Gyllenhaal and Bauman served as co-captains for the Boston Medical Center’s Marathon team at this year’s race and spoke at BMC’s annual dinner. They also paired up to throw out the first pitch and hang out with David Ortiz at Fenway Park on Marathon Monday.

Directed by David Gordon Green, Stronger does not have an official release date yet, but is expected to hit theaters in 2017.
