The streets of Cambridge will be filled with dancing this weekend.

Officials are gearing up for the return of the annual City Dance Party on Friday, June 24. The festivities, which are free and open to the public, will take place in front of Cambridge’s City Hall between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.

The party will have no shortage of guests as thousands of people are expected to stop by to get their groove on. The event’s listing on Facebook has more than 5,000 RSVPs already, so make sure to get their early if you want to find the perfect spot to boogie down.

A DJ will also be on hand to spin some beats and colorful lights will illuminate the area after sunset.

Cambridge’s traffic will be impacted by Friday night’s massive affair, as Massachusetts Ave., between Prospect Street and Bigelow Street, will be shut down from 7 p.m. to midnight.

The MBTA’s 1 bus line will terminate service in Central Square at 6 p.m. and is expected to resume by midnight. Officials are encouraging attendees to take the Red Line in order to make the trek over to City Hall.

The annual City Dance Party returns Friday, June 24, 7 p.m.-11 p.m. City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge.
