The incredible comeback tale of Providence pugilist Vinny Paz is heading to theaters this fall in the upcoming drama Bleed for This. Written and directed by Ben Younger, and with Martin Scorsese as an executive producer, the film stars Miles Teller (Whiplash, Divergent) as the former boxing world champion, as well as Ted Levine as legendary manager Lou Duva.

Ripped from the headlines, this flick details Paz’s improbable journey back to the ring following a serious car accident. Doctors told Paz that he might never walk again, but he proved everyone wrong, miraculously returning to the sport just 15 months after the incident.

Paz admits that seeing his story come to life on the big screen brought him to tears. The boxer also hopes that the film will serve as a lesson in perseverance: “When I broke my neck, it was over 25 years ago,” he says. “So the story being told now is great, it’s fabulous. It’s going to inspire the world.”
