It looks like Super Troopers 2 has added a huge star to its cast.

According to Deadline, actor Rob Lowe has joined the upcoming sequel to the 2001 cult classic comedy, which recently commenced filming around Boston. Lowe is reportedly playing a character named Guy Le Franc, an ex-hockey player turned mayor of a Canadian town.

Yup. We got Rob Lowe and he’s killing it.

Since news of Lowe joining the cast broke earlier this week, the actor and his new co-stars haven’t stopped gushing about the role on Twitter.

The Super Troopers followup got the green light after raising more than $4.5 million through crowdfunding efforts last year. The film is set to reunite original writers and cast members Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske, and will once again feature Chandrasekhar in the director’s chair.
