As the David Ortiz farewell tour comes to a close, the Red Sox slugger decided to pay a visit to Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night.
The host and noted Boston sports fan chatted with Ortiz about a variety of topics, including Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson’s hilarious Big Papi impression. Although he didn’t say a lot, his laughter and huge smile during the discussion is pretty much proof that Ortiz is a big fan of the tribute.
Big Papi also revealed an interesting fact about his Twitter response to Thompson’s bit on the Red Sox star opening a gym for iguanas. Ortiz admitted he was a bit scared while taking the photo with the lizard.
“That was the first time I had ever seen an iguana in my life ever,” Ortiz said. “I was playing it kind of cool, but I was scared.”
Big Papi added that he was more scared of the lizard than his life-sized Lego statue tribute.
In addition to having a laugh over Thompson’s impression, Ortiz brought some of his Big Papi snacks for Meyers to munch on. Of course, the Red Sox star had to take a few bites as well.
“I can’t help it,” Ortiz joked.
