The Simpsons Will Take a Trip to Boston for a New Episode

The Patriots are coming to The Simpsons…well, sort of.

Sunday’s episode of the long-running animated series, which recently kicked off its 28th season, will feature the beloved television family taking a “hate-cation” to Boston. According to a description, the trip gets booked after Homer discovers Bart rooting for Springfield’s rival football team, the Boston Americans, a pretty obvious reference to the Pats.

While the goofy TV dad initially hopes to show his son just how awful the city is, expect Homer to have a change of heart. Executive producer Al Jean revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Boston wins him over with the time-honored tradition of candlepin bowling.

“Homer is thrilled because he learns you can get three balls when you bowl, and they want to move there,” Jean said. “I think people from Boston will be very thrilled how thorough it is in its depiction of Boston. The bowling alley is owned by Whitey Bulger.”

The episode, appropriately titled “The Town,” will include several cartoon parodies of your favorite Patriots stars, such as Bill Belichick and his famous hoodie.

A character based on Rob Gronkowski and his gyrating hips is also set to show off his party moves during a parade.

There will even be a version of quarterback Tom Brady, which will likely be accompanied by a few Deflategate jokes.

The Boston episode of The Simpsons airs Sunday, October 9, at 8 p.m.
