1. The Witch

This historical horror thriller by New Hampshire-bred director Robert Eggers is a terrifying portrait of a 17th century Puritan family plagued by supernatural forces after settling down next to a New England forest. 2. American Horror Story: Asylum

The second season of the acclaimed FX anthology series brought audiences to the nightmarish world of Briarcliff Manor, a fictional Massachusetts mental institution that contains all sorts of ghoulish secrets.
