2004 Best Gourmet Shop, Nantucket
Fahey & Fromagerie
Specialty-food shopping on this island can be slim pickings, which is why local gourmets consider Michael Fahey of Fahey & Fromagerie a godsend. His subtly swank, well-stocked shop would rival any specialty store on the mainland, with esoteric as well as recognizable standouts in the wine racks, a fantastic collection of European and domestic cheeses, and a charcuterie that has meats from thinly sliced, salty prosciutto to good old American bacon. The added bonus: Pizza fanatic Evan Marley operates his Pi Pizza, which has a cult-like following, from the same location.
