New Deal Fish Market
Local retail seafood options are a pretty shabby lot. And at first gander, New Deal, a no-frills fish market masquerading as a bodega, doesn’t seem like an exception. Nonperishables appear to outnumber the quivering catch, packed—quite literally—to the gills in the small display case. But regulars know that half the inventory, be it sashimi-grade salmon, dry-packed scallops, or the makings of a 15-creature cioppino, is probably still chilling in the walk-in, awaiting its turn on center stage.
