Charles Street

Toss aside that black-on-black Newbury Street attire and pull on some comfortable clothes: Historic Charles Street is calling. And it couldn’t be a more pleasant promenade, with fresh fruit and flowers spilling over the deep red brick sidewalk, old-fashioned lampposts, and an unpretentious mix of locals and tourists. There’s plenty to buy and snack on (you can get everything from turtle meat to antique tiaras along the way). For collectors, the street’s world-class antique shops spell nirvana.
