Fuzz at the Alley

In an increasingly integrated club scene, LGBT nightlife is moving toward niche parties aimed at specific subcultures and sets of music lovers. Previously named Fur & Gold, Fuzz is the on-trend monthly (second Fridays) party that transforms the Alley, a bilevel downtown dive lovingly ravaged by years of bear bashes, into a glitter-and-flannel-packed den of scruffy hipster-queer dudes in their twenties and thirties. The drinks are cheap, the artsy crowds are friendly and frisky, and the tunes from DJs Brent Covington and Taffy—a mélange of indie-rock remixes, Britpop, New Wave, and dance anthems—are appropriately synth-splattered.
