James Fagan Gets Targeted By Bloggers

On Friday, we lamented Rep. James Fagan’s speech on the House floor about what defense attorneys would do to child rape victims if tough mandatory sentencing laws were passed. Here are his remarks again, in case you missed them.

Fagan, a defense attorney, infuriated victims’ rights advocates during a recent House debate when he said he would “rip apart” 6-year-old victims on the witness stand and “make sure the rest of their life is ruined.”

In a fiery soliloquy on the House floor, Fagan said he’d grill victims so that, “when they’re 8 years old they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep; when they’re 19 years old, they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody.”

It was a poor choice of words, to say the least. And some bloggers have taken action beyond writing about their outrage.

1214853467Behold the certificate we received from one Richard Cochrane, who bills himself as a Contributing Editor to Hypocrisy.com. (Click for big.)

This is, by far, the strangest item we’ve received here at Boston Daily HQ, and naturally we wanted to learn more. We checked for a bio about Cochrane on the website, but came up with only this.

Richard is very much a real person. He proudly emphasizes the lower case letters in “real person” so as not to be confused with Real Personas, fake personas, figments and any other such nonsense.

Huh.

The site’s reason d’etre isn’t much clearer, either.

www.hypocrisy.com is operated by Hypocrite.com LLC, a Colorado limited liability company and together with other Hypocrite.com LLC operated sites such as Hypocrite.com, Hypocrites.com and Hypocritters.com. . . . The Company, through it’s Sites, provides a web forum where Users may post content in any supported formant, that they believe is noteworthy and may specifically demonstrate some form of hypocrisy wherever it may be found (the “Service”).

We’re not the only media outlet in town to receive this gift. Cochrane writes that he sent certificates to TV stations and both the daily papers. (Though we are flattered he spent $12.99 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond to get his message out to us, let’s hope he removed the price tag from the other boxes. )

Call these media outlets and ask them which lucky desk is displaying the handsome HAA Certificate for James Fagan. ASK THEM TO SEND A PICTURE OF THEIR FRAMED ONE ON A DESK.

1214853660We can’t resist a tasteful horse’s ass border and faux mahogany finish. So we naturally placed the certificate in the highest place of honor in our office. This one’s for you, Hypocrisy.com.
