L’Avion is all Business

On the heels of our last airline post, we bring you more aviation news. French-based L’Avion has just been partnered by British Airways. What is L’Avion, you say? And, more importantly, why should you care?

The purple-painted planes feature 90 reclining seats (finally, a good night’s sleep on a plane), tasty French fare (finally, a good meal on a plane), and personal hand-held TVs (finally, no neck cramps on a plane). Fliers get complimentary champagne during takeoff, landing, and, come to think of it, pretty much throughout the entire flight. Also, free food, drink, and Internet in fancy airport-based lounges!

And here’s the key part: Yes, you have to transfer to New York, but you’ll pay less. Much less. An average business class Boston-Paris ticket on a major airline costs from $4,600 to $8,000 round trip. L’Avion, though, charges around $1,500 round trip, allowing you to bus, train, or fly to New York and still save money, all required cabs and airport reading material included. If you ask us, it’s well worth the transfer. And with the new BA partnership, look for expanded routes soon.
