Bostonista Shops: RueLaLa.com

1218124517What labels do we want on our threads? Designer. What kind of prices are we out to pay? Discount. Put ’em together and what have you got? RueLaLa.com—a new way to shop.

Piggybacking off the infamous New York City sample sale model, RueLaLa stocks current season designer duds for women, men and kid—plus accessories and home goods—all with price tags reduced by at least half. A new one-brand, two-day sale featuring names like Gucci, Stella McCartney, and Hugo Boss starts every two days.

Launched in April by Wellesley resident Stacey Santo, the Boston-based private sale site exercises “private” and “sale” to the max.

For one, it’s members only. There’s even a waiting list. Unless you know a friend who’s a member, you’ll have to wait in line with the rest of the discount hunters and huntresses. You can’t even Google it. With all merchandise going for 50-80 percent off, there would be outbursts of mass rioting if just anyone could scroll through these products. But without all the hush-hush, there might not be a RueLaLa at all. “The reason we can do it is because we’re discrete,” Santo says.

Lucky for you, you’ve got a friend in the club. Snag a free trial membership at ruelala.com/blogs, courtesy of Bostonista. Check out the upcoming sales on Dior, Gucci and Juicy Couture. And take our RueLaLa shopping advice: get it while it’s hot. Stuff sells out, so log on at the start of the sale.

You’re welcome.
