Bostonista Gives: A Feel-Good Fashion Event

1220887377As a shopper, I can pretty much justify anything. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a good excuse. Which is why I’m all over the upcoming I Have Nothing to Wear shopping event, which happens next Thursday, Sept. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m.

For $50, I get discounts on clothing, shoes, lingerie, and beauty products I may or may not need in the name of — no, not me! — charity. Twenty boutiques along Newbury and Charles Streets—including Marc Jacobs, Nanette Lepore, French Dressing, and the Beauty Mark—will offer ticketholders 15 percent off anything in store.

A swank after-party at the Liberty Hotel, hosted by Red Sox wives Kelli Pedroia and Jacque Francona and featuring drinks, snacks, and a deluxe silent auction, will follow. Trolleys will provide transportation between shops and hotel, which means I can feel free to wear the highest heels I own (see: justify anything).

Created by local fashion writers Jill Radsken and Beth Teitell, the event benefits Brookline-based The Kid’s Clothes Club, which provides winter coats to kids in need. Tickets available at kidsclothesclub.org.

I Have Nothing To Wear!, Thursday, September 18, 5-7.
