ANTM Returns with a Double Dose of Local Talent

1203525787We’ve been counting down for months and the day is finally here: Tyra the Great kicked off Cycle 10 of America’s Next Top Model Wednesday at 8 p.m. on the CW. (Note: There’s also a Top Model casting call for Cycle 11 this Saturday at the Park Plaza from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.)
As devoted vans know, predicting the Top Model winner is trickier than guessing which crazy weave Tyra will wear at any given judging panel. It’s not about being the prettiest or the most striking. Instead, winning ANTM is about smiling with your eyes. Or at least that’s what Tyra says. And what she says goes. But since we can’t really figure out how to recognize this eye-smiling business, we’ll be putting our cheering behind the local contestants.

Last season’s—I mean cycle‘s!—locals included that annoying blonde chick named Mila, who disappointed us by getting cast off on the first ep. There was also Sara, the normal-sized girl that was chastised by noted fashion photographer Nigel Barker for not being thick enough to qualify as a full-on plus size. For the record, Bostonista loves Sara and her not-so-fat ass.

Thankfully, this season Miss Tyra and her catty gang have again chosen two Massachusetts gals to compete for a shot at being America’s. Next. Top. Model.

1203525804Kimberly, age 20, works in customer service and hails from the luxurious resort town of Worcester, Mass. She is blonde and looks a little bit like Australian super-waif, Gemma Ward. We put our money on her passing the “high fashion” test but faltering when parameters become more “commercial.”

1203525796Fatima, age 22, calls Boston her hometown and is a student. She’s boney but with flawless milk chocolatey skin, and her long forehead will likely put her in Lady Ty’s good graces, because nobody knows how to rise to the challenge and work a large forehead like Ms. Banks.

So those are our girls. Go get some t-shirts printed up with their names and some granola bars in their favorite flavors and cross your fingers that our local talent will still be in the running to be America’s Next Top Model next week! Oh, and let us know if you’ve cracked that eye-smiling code.

America’s Next Top Model airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW
